UK Music Pays Tribute to King’s Birthday Honours Music Sector
UK MUSIC CELEBRATES KING'S BIRTHDAY HONOURS FOR MUSIC SECTOR FIGURES

Among those recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours were The Who frontman Roger Daltrey, awarded a Knighthood for services to charity and music, and artist, producer, and broadcaster Elaine Paige, who has been made a Dame.

UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl said:
“Congratulations to all those who received honours in the King’s Birthday List. It’s fantastic to see so many incredible figures from across the music world recognised for their brilliant work.”

Notable OBE recipients included Stuart Worden (Principal, The BRIT School), Michael Downes (Director of Music, University of St Andrews), David Lewis (Founder, Young Voices), Nick Robinson (Chair & Co-Founder, Future Talent UK), and David Pickard (former Director, BBC Proms & Glyndebourne).

This year’s MBE list featured Ann Sharp (opera singer and Artistic Director, North Wales International Festival), musician Surdarshan Singh Chana, singer and activist Gabriella Di Laccio, 10cc’s Graham Gouldman, Will Kennard (Chase & Status), James Manwaring (Director of Music & President Elect, Music Teachers Association), Pamela McCormick (Director, UD Music), Wayne Parmel (co-founder, ACE Dance and Music), Crispin Parry (British Underground), Angus Tulloch (Scottish Schools Pipes & Drums Trust), and musician Steve Winwood.

Tom Bloxham, Chair of Urban Splash and Manchester International Festival, and Trustee of Tate and the Manchester United Foundation, was awarded a CBE.

British Empire Medals were presented to Edna Auld, Alan Borthwick, Susan Margaret Crook, Rebecca Lucy Denniff, David Liston Lyle, Michele Karen Scott, Terence Stewart Smith, Jean Stewart, Frank Thomson, Njok Malik Jeng, and Clara Rachel Wilson for services to music.

Also recognised were Corin Mews (Music In Action), Elizabeth Burrowes (Director of Music Education, Brass for Africa), MP Michael McCarthy, Labour MP Chi Onwurah (now a Dame), and Labour MP Mark Tami, who received a Knighthood.
